Any real commitment to preserving the diversity and unique character of Silver Lake MUST start with protecting the rights of the 65% of residents who are renters.
I will fight for tenant’s rights by lobbying for the repeal of Costa-Hawkins and the Ellis act, liasing with LA Tenants union, establishing lines of communication between Silver Lake tenants re: rent actions and organizing buildings, and aggressively opposing the illegal use of rent-controlled units as hotel rooms (eg, AirBnB).
I will not accept any donations, endorsements or support of any kind from anyone involved in the real estate industry on a commercial scale.
